Cats are a popular pet that numerous people love, so it’s tough to believe that there are those who live with Ailurophobia, or the fear of cats. Whether it was an event as a youngster or something that has steadily developed with time, the fear of cats can often be tracked to several contributing causes. The first is the concern for one’s own safety, which would be reasonable if you had been wounded by a cat at some stage in your life. The second comes from the ancient and unreasonable fear of cats developed by some cultures. Certainly some concern may be reasonable but how do people with a true cat phobia permit it to control their lives? Let’s look at the basics of the fear of cats to look at it a little more profoundly.

Actual Condition or Simple Dislike?

The initial reaction that most people think about ailurophobia is that it’s just a dislike of cats, but nothing could be further from the truth. People who suffer from this issue have developed this fear to the point that they can’t withstand the physical presence of a cat anywhere near them and will do anything in their power to avoid cats. Many are affected by from actual physical symptoms of the fear. Sweating, hyperventilation, racing heartbeat and an agitated mental state are just a few symptoms that an ailurophobic person can experience. Because of this, individuals with this condition often impulsively ask friends and acquaintances about the existence of a cat in their residence before agreeing to visit them. Taking all this into account, it’s apparent that a cat phobia is a bit more than a simple dislike.

Causes of a Cat Fear

With a disorder that can have such a dramatic impact on one’s life, it’s reasonable to wonder what could cause such a cat phobia. Actually, many ailurophobes can’t establish what it is that they fear about cats; they just state that it is a fear that they’ve managed since childhood. Normally, most cat phobias can be tracked to a traumatic experience in a person’s childhood. It’s thought that small children are particularly vunerable to developing a cat fear because they are exploring their environments, are sometimes heavy-handed and their brains are developed enough to retain bad associations that may occur due to an unpleasant experience. So soon after being bitten or scratched, they can develop a sense that cats will attack without provocation that grows over time.

Who’re Most Prone To Be Phobic?

Ailurophobia can impact anyone and it can occur in those who have both been around cats at some point in their lives, in addition to those who have never experienced close personal contact. Although there’s no evidence that this fear can be handed down via genetics, it makes sense that parents who have ailurophobia may pass this disorder down to their kids based just on their behavior. Strangely enough, several historical figures that supposedly endured ailurophobia include Napoleon Bonaparte, Julius Caesar and Adolf Hitler.

Dealing with Cat Phobia

Treating phobias in general can be an arduous process, and curing a phobia of cats is no exception. The first critical step in therapy is for the sufferer to recognize that it is a problem and want to overcome their dread. The next logical stage is to seek the help of a professional to assist and support them. A doctor should be able to determine the severity of the phobia and then determine the therapy that’s most likely to be successful. This normally starts with gradually exposing the patient to photos and videos of cats to desensitize them. Ultimately the process would involve growing exposure to cats while giving the patient techniques to combat the symptoms of their phobia.

Although a cat phobia can be annoying or disruptive to a person’s life, it can be overcome in many cases with the right treatment.

There is nothing worse than seeing your child struggling with extreme anxiety. Anxiety is a natural part of daily life but how do you recognize when the boundary has been crossed into anxiety disorder territory, and what can you do to help steer your child back to solid footing? In this article I will provide you with guidelines that will assist you to notice when your child is battling with anxiety and how to deal with it.

I lived with childhood anxiety. Unfortunately my disorder was not identified and lead to significant issues during adult life. Only since completing therapy and reading about anxiety did I discover that my problems began in childhood. I found that self-help is a fantastic thing and whilst not necessarily a substitute for formal therapy it can give a helpful running start and often a complete solution. I hope this article will be read by someone who has or knows a child that might be enduring anxiety and is not sure how to help.

When discussing anxiety in children it is important to understand the difference between normal anxiety and an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is a normal emotion necessary to help us cope with dangerous situations. An anxiety disorder is when anxious feelings become all consuming, get in the way of day-to-day activities, and is present for a few months. Not noticing the difference may lead to an approach that is not appropriate in dealing with what may be just temporary anxiety.

There are various types of anxiety disorder: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Attacks, social phobia, Separation Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), to name a few. You can read more about these disorders by searching these keywords on the internet.

The symptoms of an anxiety disorder are varied but the general physical symptoms could be: sweating, restlessness, anger disproportionate to circumstances, uncontrollable trembling, dizziness, headache, inability to sleep, avoidance of school, avoiding social situations, loss of interest in food. The physical symptoms are often connected with unhelpful feelings and actions such as: excessively thinking about an event that has happened or might happen, crying, irrational guilty thoughts, obsessive concern for a loved one’s well-being, being fearful of potentially embarrassing situations, a perception of going mad or even of dying. Several of the signs are also associated with normal anxiety but it is when these signs are present over a few months you should sit up and take notice.

Luckily for us there are many ideas we can implement straight away to help both normal anxiety and extreme anxiety. Here are three tips for you:

Avoid trivializing your child’s fear or telling them not to be afraid of something. This is a natural parental reaction but it is not helpful in dealing with excessive anxiety. A more helpful strategy is to help your child acknowledge their fear but also let them know you will help them to overcome it.

Try to encourage your child to express their thoughts and feelings. Many kids find it difficult to express what they are feeling, especially if asked directly. Listen carefully and try to catch them when they express themselves and then help your child to recognize and accept their feelings by reflecting them back. Try not to ask too many questions or provide advice, just listen to your child.

Purchase children’s story books that deal specifically with anxiety, fear, and worry. There are many books available and they can be useful as the stories model various ways of coping with worry and anxiety. When looking for books on the internet use search words such as: anxiety, worry, fear, scared, shy, etc. I have also come across some great audio book programs that lead your child through inspiring adventure stories dealing with anxiety and worry. Audio books may be particularly useful for parents of children who are below reading age.

I hope that this article has given you some guidelines to help you recognize anxiety in your child and handle it. The key is to stay calm and find further help if the symptoms do not abate after a few months. Recognizing that there is an issue is half the battle. During my studies I brought to light some interesting self-help programs on how to cope with anxiety. Self-help may be the only option if you have cash constraints, a lack of services in your area, or if your child is too anxious to see a counselor just yet. One program I came across appears to be unique and may be the thing you have been searching for. You can investigate further by following the web link below this article.

Visit us to find out more about tackling anxiety in children and to find out more about a program that is helping children all over the world cope with excessive anxiety.

It is always incredibly irritating to take a look at all of the pressure in your own life and the way to deal with it, but the fact you’re here, says you intend to do something positive about it and that’s a good start. You need to maintain positivity and keep an objective balance when you discover new tips and tactics to lower anxiety. Take a moment to read through this informative article and you may uncover a few, new tricks, on how to deal with pressure.

As a way to keep your pressure manageable, it could be best to keep clear of caffeine. This is important because this drug can contribute to panic attacks in some individuals, subsequently making worries more hard to cope with. It is often difficult to break away from, however you’ll feel better once you learn to live without it.

Acknowledge your strain. We all have our own pressure signal, whether is it teeth gritting, neck pain, shoulder pain, shallow breath, or loss of temper. Make time to determine what yours is and say aloud, “I am feeling stressed” once you start to feel like that. Declaring it and realizing that you are beginning to feel anxious will help slow up the unwanted reactions.

Should you be in a stressful situation, before you doing anything hasty, pause and count to 10. This will give you a short while to relax and calm down. It will prevent you from doing something you might regret and as an alternative letting your mind calm down enough to help with making coherent choices.

Physical activity is a highly effective way to manage worries. If you exercise, the body releases feel-good chemicals named endorphins. These endorphins can instantly stimulate your state of mind and help you stay in high spirits for hours following your workout. Try exercising no less than twenty minutes per day several times a week for the best results.

Play calming music. When you are feeling anxious, one of the better activities to do is to put on some restful music and listen. Have some calming music ready so that once you start feeling worried you can simply play a bit of music and keep yourself occupied with the sounds.

To keep your stress level under control, it would be a good idea to look for something that you love doing. This will keep your mind off of anything that might bring stress for you. A bit of respite, if you will? This really is essential because lots of people need an activity that will give them an outlet, for their frustrations.

You will have a lot simpler and easier time coping with the challenges in your life if you cultivate and maintain a healthy sense of humor. It is well known that laughter lowers strain. That is the reason a lot of people declare, “You have to laugh so you do not cry.” Learn how to have a sense of humor, and you can handle stress so much better.

An effective method to help you keep your strain levels down is to meditate. There are several techniques to meditate. Meditating is excellent basically because it will help you rid yourself of all your stresses for the moment. You’ll be able think much more clearly by simply meditating a small amount on a daily basis.

To more effectively handle worries, learn how to let go of things you have got no control over. Seek to discern what kind of things you do have control of and separate them, mentally, from the ones you don’t have total control over. By separating the issues, you will definitely find that it’s easier to worry much less about things.

For those who want to know how to overcome stage fright fast, come to our homepage and find ways to decrease your worry using experts knowledge and a suggestive audio session.

Speaking on stage can be frightening, but it doesn’t have to be that way. They say that fear of public speaking is a fear worst than death to some. They would rather jump off a cliff than speaking in front of a crowd. It’s very possible to overcome fear of public speaking. Seasoned speakers also have a fear right before they go on stage, so that fear never goes away. However, there are 4 things the pros do so they feel comfortable that you can also do to feel more comfortable at your next public speaking event or your first.

1. Make friends with the audience early: Don’t sit with the sponsor of the event you will be speaking at the entire time. Get there early and mix with the crowd. Get to know your audience before you get on stage, so when you get on stage, it feels like you are talking to friends. This is what the pros do.

2. Rehearse until you’ve memorized your speech: Yes, you should practice your speech until you can say the entire speech in your sleep. Part of nervousness is not knowing what to say next. But, if you practice until you’ve almost memorized your speech, a good amount of your nervousness will melt away.

3. Know your material solid: Make sure you really know your topic and you have a passion for it. When you have a passion for the topic, you want to know everything about it. Pick a topic you truly care about. There should be no questions you can’t answer because you will know your topic so well. This knowledge base will help calm your nerves.

4. Realize that your audience is on your side. They want you to do well. The audience isn’t waiting for you to make mistakes, they want you to succeed. You should feel more comfortable knowing that the audience is for you, not against you.

These 4 tips can make a big difference in your next public speaking assignment or your very first one. It’s very possible to overcome fear of public speaking with these 4 tips: know your material, rehearse dozens of times, greet the audience before you speak, and realize that the audience wants you to succeed on stage.

Many folks that are suffering from panic issues and general anxiety might also suffer from driving anxiety. Driving anxiety is an example of a specific anxiety disorder. A specific anxiety disorder is one in which a person may not feel anxious in general, such as generalized anxiety disorder, but will become concerned and panic in certain situations. Many times, people with a particular anxiety disorder will feel anxiety effects when socializing with others, but this does not always hold true for all cases. In other eventualities, eg driving your automobile, people are still able to experience harsh agitation based mostly on their surroundings.

For someone that is afflicted with driving anxiety, driving their vehicle can sometimes be one of the worst regular happening experiences in their lives. Traffic can be too congested, others might be driving too unpredictable, or it could be too dark out; irrespective of the reason is for your driving agitation, it is nothing to take lightly.

Driving anxiety should be addressed the moment it is discovered. Folk who become anxious while driving will often experience an increased heart beat, sweaty palms, and breathing problems. These symptoms will force your mind to think even more irrationally than it was before, forcing you into a state of panic, and probably, a fear of losing consciousness. What will happen to someone that loses consciousness behind the wheel on an expressway? That's why driving anxiety has a tendency to be one of the most feared types of panic and hysteria folk can experience.

People who have experienced the leading indicators of driving foreboding, and who presumably could have been seriously hurt due to an accident due to stress, are really capable of developing a driving phobia. When one possesses a driving phobia, they may start to avoid certain highways, streets, intersections, or they may start to avoid driving altogether. Pursuing these actions will only additionally associate driving with the fear and panic in your mind.

Like with any anxiety, it is actually possible to treat driving stress. Because you have had an awful episode of driving in the past doesn't mean you are condemned forever in the future.

A satisfactory way of approaching driving anxiety is to examine your mindset going into your “trigger” eventualities. A trigger situation could be a certain street, bridge, road, etc. Where you have a tendency to feel most concerned. Going into these trigger scenarios, concerned and panicked drivers often convince themselves they will have a panic episode.

These varieties of thoughts have a tendency to defeat any tried efforts being made to help yourself with driving anxiety. Someone that has an irresistible desire to be able to drive easily will never achieve that mental condition when they're getting ready to panic in specific circumstances.

Rather than flooding your consciousness with illogical, negative thinking, concentrate on thoughts that may calm you in a state of possible tension. Instead of panicking because there isn't enough room for you to merge lanes, turn on your signal and bide your time for other drivers to move. If before you “freaked out” whenever a policeman began to follow your car, know that if you follow traffic laws you can't be responsible for anything.

Do not become submersed in your present position. So what if you get nervous when merging onto a particular highway or when you pass thru a certain crossover, the key is not to focus on what makes you scared. You most concentrate on what eases you in order to reach your goal.

For help on how to conquer fear of driving you should really check out this Driving Fear review.

Caffeine a recognized stimulant, feeds the condition. This stimulant is found in green tea and should be removed from the diet of sufferers. Processed food as well sugar need to be taken out of the diet. While this is a good health measure for most, this assists individuals who are afflicted.

Valerian root, consumed as a tea has highly recommended sedative qualities. This herb relaxes the nerves. To prepare the tea, pour hot water over a few grams of the dried roots. Allow the tea to brew before drinking. This tea can be drunk as often as possible.

Another herb chosen for its calming properties is kava kava. This herb can put the anxious body into a calmer state. Traditionally, the root of the Kava Kava was hand ground to produce a stronger beverage.

Kava Kava tea for the modern household is prepared by immersing dried kava kava root in water, although some sources state milk is a good alternative, due to the fat content. After a few minutes, strain the tea through a muslin cloth. The tea is only suited to cold extraction as heat destroys valuable properties.

Naturopaths employ holistic means to treat this issue. To establish the right treatment plan, lifestyle patterns will be taken into consideration. Naturopathy includes a range of natural remedies for panic attacks.

Emetophobia is the fear of vomiting. If you are a sufferer you will know that it probably started when you were a child. Unfortunately, it often goes untreated as it is layered under other related issues ad it can continue undetected as a lifelong phobia.

An example would be, that the person once vomited in a public space. It could also be that the person has had an experience which lasted for a few days. It can take control of the person’s life and can lead to obsessive compulsive behaviors.

It could be that the person would need to sleep with an aid nearby, in case of vomiting. It could also mean that the sufferer would insist on driving for fear of getting car sick. Being hyper sensitive and hyper alert creates more related difficulties. The problem also has various related strains.

The thought of the possibility of being nauseous and the other problems related to that, can in fact bring on the nausea. This consistent fear will lead the persons to isolate themselves, and this can create further problems such as social anxiety or agoraphobia.

These problems are not the only ones that could be seen as part of emetophobia. The anxiety related to food is an added extension as there would be the radical concern for food that is not cooked or the way in which the food is stored. In their minds this might lead to food poisoning.

The result is that all food is examined and prepared to such an extent that the person begins to severely restrict their diet and refuse to eat unless prepared in a specific way. The extremity of this fear will result in tendencies toward anorexia which has unhealthy consequences.

Issues such as anorexia or agoraphobia, can be the direct off shoot of the trepidation of vomiting. There is also the constant fear that someone might vomit in front of them. This could lead to him or her vomiting as well. Hence, the related fears and anxieties need to be treated as well.

It is a difficult illness to diagnose as it is often buried beneath other phobias. One of the good things about it is that it can be treated. All of the phobias can be revealed and lifted off by an experienced therapist. This will reveal the real issue which is the fear of vomiting.

This is the reason why it would be necessary to confront the issues surrounding emetophobia, so that the real issue can be dealt with. Hypnosis and relaxation are just a few tools that could be utilized to turn the negative mind around. Even though, medication is available as well, it is important for the treatment so that the illness can be placed under control.

Get more details and information about how to identify Emetophobia and the techniques and methods that will help you overcome the condition. You can learn about the Emetophobia treatment that will give you the relief you seek more quickly.

In today’s modern world and with the advent of modern technology (internet), our virtues and vices are practically known to everyone. Social media networks provide global instant access to people and issues with the privacy of personal information provided to these networks have created havoc if not nightmares to millions of people worldwide. This has resulted in a social phenomenon known as social phobia which instills fear and anxiety in many.

Experts believed that this led to more revelations of the magnitude affected by what is commonly called Social Anxiety (Phobia).

Social Anxiety is the fear of social situations and interaction with other people that can automatically bring on feelings of self-consciousness, judgment, evaluation, and criticism. It is the fear and anxiety of being judged and evaluated negatively by other people, leading to feelings of inadequacy, embarrassment, humiliation, and depression. Social Anxiety is a situation where a person usually becomes anxious in social situations, but seems fine when they are alone. Millions of people all over the world suffer from this devastating and traumatic problem every day of their lives.

Being introduced to other people, being teased or criticized, being the center of attention, being watched while doing something, making “small talk” at parties, meeting people in authority (”important people”) are some uncomfortable social situations where one could experience significant emotional distress .

To the person with social anxiety, going to a job interview is pure torture: if you could just get past this terrifying and intimidating interview, you know you could do the job well. You’ll look funny, you’ll be hesitant, maybe you’ll even blush, and finding the right words to answer the questions coherently. And the worst part of all: You know that you are going to say the wrong thing. You just know it.

Getting over such a disorder is not an easy task; yet many thousands have already done it. While you’re in the middle of the problem, it feels hopeless – that you’ll never ever get better. Life is just one gut-wrenching anxiety problem after another. But can this be stopped? At least quenched and reduced in a relatively short period of time? A behavioral therapist who understands and specializes in the treatment of social anxiety, can certainly help.

But first you need to understand the problem, being aware of the problem simply is not enough. You should have the will to carry on the treatment even if it seems difficult at times.

Socially anxious people share the knowledge that their thoughts and fears are irrational .That is, they know that others are not really critically judging or evaluating them. Or are trying to humiliate or embarrass them. Just their thoughts and feelings are exaggerated and irrational. Yet despite this rational knowledge, to feel differently persists.

Usually these anxious feelings are tied to thoughts that are entwined in a vicious cycle of negative expectations and negative appraisals. It is these automatic “feelings” and thoughts that occur around social situations that must be met and conquered in therapy.
