I just want to say you are the best friend she could ever wish for. I admire your concern for her.
I think you should help her find a different psychologist/psychiatrist. Some people take years to find the right one, so remember that they’re not all the same.
Good luck, keep up the good work, and i hope your friend recovers.
You cab’t. She has to want to help herself. Some people revel in always being the victim. Or either something happened to her and she is hiding it. Try a hypnotist.

she better find another doctor.. i use lamictal and effexor xr for my bipolar type 2. lamictal is a anticonvulsive medication used for seizures, but, it helps people with bipolar disease to stay level between depression and mania. and effexor xr is good for depression.sometimes people with bipolar disease need a combination of drugs to help them. it sure worked for me. my doctor has a phd in psychopharmacology.

I don’t really see what the problem is…

If she is not being helped by her medication, she is either not taking it, or she’s on the wrong medication. From my 41 years of experience with bi-polar disorder, I’ve tried many medications that haven’t done a thing for me, tried another one and sometimes a third one and finally found the perfect RX. Sometimes they stop working and then yo have to move on to another one. Right now, I’m on a combination of 2 antidepressants and a mood stabilizer.
I’m not a fan of talk therapy, especially if she has a hard time opening up and being completely honest with her therapist. I felt much more comfortable with a female therapist than with a male. Do you know which she is seeing? Out of the 16 psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists I’ve seen over the years, I’ve only been helped with talk therapy by 1 1/2!
There isn’t anything YOU can do for her, except exactly what you’re doing. Just be her friend. I’d suggest persuading her to go back to her doctor and tell him the medication isn’t helping and also maybe changing therapists, or stop going and start a journal on a word document. That is very therapeutic. You’re actually being the patient and the therapist.
Good Luck,
Sandilynn

she’s lucky to have someone who cares. social anxiety can be managed, it’s a phobia like any other phobia and can with hard work and effort be lessened. bi-polar can be managed as well.
she needs to believe like you believe in her.
good luck.
