Anyone have some tips on how to get over this??
I have a moderate case of social phobia and would like some help with this.
Any tips you can give me?
social phobia is common as are many other phobias. The best way to conquer a phobia, is to take it a day at a time, & slowly face your phobias. Having a postive attitude helps also. May I suggest that you get out into the public more & more. Do this with friends, who will help you conquer this fear, if they’re true friends. Times will come, when you should get out by yourself. It may be every uncomfy, but you can do it. There are lots of self help books to buy or borrow from the library. The internet may be able to help you choose which books are more helpful. Whatever your phobia is, the only way to get over it is to muster up the courage and practice placing yourself in your fearful social situation. Start slowly at first, baby steps are good and then immerse yourself. Have a friend help you as well. It’s much harder to manage alone because you might give up on yourself.
I used to be terrified to speak on the phone, but I got a job as a secretary and couldn’t escape. Now, I have very little qualms with it, though I would still rather speak face to face than on the phone…

Don’t worry about it too much. Ideally, if you keep your interactions with people to a bearable minimum, do not speak in front of people much, but gradually, overtime, increase your presence in social groups and in conversations ever so slightly, you’ll be able to ease yourself in, at least far enought to function. Do not rush, do not compare yourself to others socially, try not to worry what people think about you, and try not to be too judgmental of yourself for your shortcomings (especially if you are unable to do any of the above, as it is much harder than I suggest, as I am sure you are aware).
Socialize rarely, and for the purpose of furthering your own competence, self-esteem, and enjoyment, not for the frivolous desires for gossip and small-talk that disgust me personally (I cannot be sure if you feel the same way). One step at a time, with your self in mind.

Its only a matter of selection, I believe. Are you a very polite person? If so, only trough signs near phobia you’ll understand that our balance also comes on making choices on the ones we really want to see for – humbly – we can but take care on some parts of "the world" in our daily lives!!!!!
